

Floyd L. "Lee" Hickman, 73, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 in Abilene. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Rev. Jason Gray officiating. Burial will be at 3:00p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Floyd was born on June 14, 1938 to Marvin Hickman and Josie Bullard in Edingburg, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service as a Staff Sargeant. After retiring, he worked for the City of Abilene for 10 years and then was a volunteer with Disabled American Veterans Volunteer Program.
He was a member of VFW Post 4873 and had been Commander of Taylor County Chapter 36 DAV from June 2008 to May 2009. Floyd was presently a member of Chapter 47 DAV in Big Spring. He had been a Deacon at Ridgemont Baptist Church and was currently a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his father, Marvin Hickman and stepmother, Lorena Lee Hickman.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hickman of Abilene; sister, Mary Lee Archer of Victoria, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans, 2555 Grape St., Abilene, TX, 79601.
