

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel, 542 Hickory, with Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jurel Scott, Mathew Scott, Craig Jordan, Jason Magnan, Ray Rogers, and Jack Robinson. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Grady was born October 6, 1955 to Lottie (South) and Carl L. Scott in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1974, where he played football. Grady went on to attend McMurry University. He married Bonnie Malone in Abilene in 1986. Grady worked for many years in retail management before his illness began. After conquering several medical problems, Tom Lindley gave Grady a new outlook on life by hiring him at Contract Paving where he learned new skills that afforded him the opportunity to shine once again. His final battle with cancer began in 2008 and was the one he could not conquer. Grady was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merriell Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Scott of Abilene; a son, Justin Lee Scott of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Alicia Magnan and husband, Jason, of Abilene; two brothers, Earnest Scott and wife, Sandy, and Jerry Scott and wife, Donna, all of Abilene; a sister, Francis Rappard and husband, Charles, of Overbrook, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Dr. Victor Hirsch who stayed with Grady through all of his battles.
