

HD Woodruff, Sr., 76, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, March 3, 2013, while at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church located at 608 N. 7th St., with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Woodruff was born in Abilene, Texas on January 26, 1937. He graduated from Woodson High School where he was a standout football player and proud Ram. HD was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church serving in many roles until his health would no longer permit. He retired from Pride Refining after 27 years of service.
HD enjoyed outdoor sports, fishing, and hunting. Along with bowling, playing dominoes, and shooting pool, he was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends talking about his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Annie Lee Evans; his father, LD Woodruff; and his sister, Lenora Lewis.
HD leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Zella Woodruff; two daughters, Oscelia Selman and Patricia Eaton and husband, Joseph; two sons, Michael Pimpton and wife, Ella, and HD Woodruff, Jr. and wife, Bernadine; grandchildren, Shataria, Ron Jr., Mike Jr., Brooke, HD III, Breanna, Marcel, and Tori; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Jean Lewis; brothers, Larry Lewis, Norris Morning, and James LD Woodruff; aunts, Lillie Mae Brown and Penny Butler; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
