

Mary Helen Rusk Walker was born in Crane, Texas on December 10, 1934 to Virginia Pearl Goodwin Rusk and Thomas David Rusk. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Wylie Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 12 to 2:30pm, prior to the service at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 2pm in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Helen was preceded in Death by her parents; and two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Polly Rusk.
Survivors include her husband Calvin Walker of Abilene; one daughter, Raylene Cox and husband Calvin Cox of Abilene; two sons, Rode Walker and wife Christy of Fredericksburg, and Rickey Walker and wife Traci of Abilene; grandchildren Brady May and wife Jessica of Boerne, Tammy Fanning and husband Matt of Tuscola, C.J. Carroll and husband Craig of Frisco, Rowdy Walker and wife Maggie of Lukenbach, Bunde Walker of Fredericksburg, Ryder Coughlin and wife Stephanie of Meridian, Stoney Walker of Abilene, Summer Burton and husband Dillon of Clyde, Jake Beeman and wife Christy of Clyde, Kimberly Moore and husband Dustin of Clyde; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was a dedicated nurse employed at Hendrick Medical Center for 26 years before she left and began working for Dr. Zane Travis at Abilene Diagnostic Clinic for 14 years, retiring in 1996. After retiring, Helen began volunteering at The Medical Care Mission, Meals on Wheels, Hendrick Hospice Care, Hendrick Auxiliary, as patient escort in the Anderson Outpatient department, at HMC, Retired Senior Volunteer Program sponsored by West Texas Rehab & the Abilene Police Department, with the Granny Squad.
Helen was a dedicated member of the Wylie Baptist Church worship choir and Living Christmas tree.
