

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, with Reverend Jim Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Isaac Flores, Dominic Cortinez, R.J. Flores, Ismael Flores, Jr., Daniel Flores, Jr., Roy Martinez, Jr., Raymond Rodriguez, Jr., and Anthony Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Cortinez, Jr. and Justin Cortinez. The family will receive friends at a rosary 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Isabell was born November 5, 1937 to Crecelia (Moreno) and Juan Cortinez in Abilene, Texas. He married Manuela Ortiz on April 5, 1972 in Abilene. Isabell worked in construction at Rose and Sons Builders. He was an avid Cowboy fan; loved to watch his grandchildren play sports; enjoyed being surrounded by his family; and was strong in his faith with God. Dad's passion and belief was to keep the family together and be embraced by all his love and compassion. Isabell was a Methodist.

Isabell was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Juan Manuel Cortinez; two brothers, Maurilio and Frank; and three sisters, Natasha, Lilly, and Tive.
Survivors include his wife, Manuela Ortiz of Abilene; nine sons and two daughters, Carmen Garcia and husband, Rick, of San Benito, Texas, Jesse Cortinez, Virginio Flores and wife, Lydia, Ismael (Smiley) Flores and wife, Mary Ann, and Daniel Flores and wife, Ester, all of Abilene, Ruben Flores and wife, Deborah, of Cedar Park, Texas, Micheal Flores and wife, Angie, of Abilene, (Ez) Isabell Cortinez, Jr. and wife, Molly, of Beaufort, South Carolina, Jaime Cortinez, Cindy Rodriguez and husband, Raymond, Felix Cortinez and wife, Brandy, all of Abilene; forty-six grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Bautista and husband, Luis, of Abilene, and Juanita Rodriguez of Madera, California; and five brothers, Ben Cortinez and wife, Isabel, Paul Cortinez and wife, Antonia, John Cortinez, Seferino Cortinez and wife, Virginia, all of Abilene, and John Perales of Wichita Falls, Texas.
