Jesse M. Cortinez

Funeral services will be 10:00a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 S. 27th St, Abilene, TX with Rev. Wes Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Rodriguez, Jr., Benjamin Cortinez, Roy Martinez, Jr., Isaac Flores, JR (Ismael) Flores, Jr., RJ (Ruben) Flores and Richard Cortinaz. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Medina, Virginio (JR) Flores and Paul Cortinaz. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South.

Jesse was born March 12, 1956 in Abilene. He was raised by his grandmother, Crecelia Cortinez. Jesse worked at Petro Smith in the tank shop and had previously worked at Rose and Sons Builders as a stone mason with his father, Isabell Cortinez and cousin, Richard Cortinaz. In addition to being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Jesse enjoyed taking walks, drinking coca-cola and playing with his dogs.

Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Isabell Cortinez and one brother, Juan Manuel Cortinez. Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Cortinez (Steven Hillard) of Abilene, RoseAnna Cortinez and Jesse Cortinez, Jr. both from North Carolina; grandchildren, Devin Cortinez and Steven Hillard; mother, Manuela Cortinez; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carmen and Rick Garcia of San Benito and Cindy and Raymond Rodriguez of Abilene; and eight brothers and sisters-in-law, EZ and Molly Cortinez of Corpus Christi, Felix and Leslie Cortinez of Abilene, Virginio (JR) and Lydia Flores of Abilene, Ismael (Smiley) and Mary Ann Flores of Abilene, Daniel and Esther Flores of Abilene, Michael and Angie Flores of Abilene, Ruben and Debby Flores of Austin and Jaime Cortinez of Abilene.
