Jo Ann (Bugbee)StokerAbileneTXJo Ann entered Heaven September 8, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Dexter, Maine on December 3, 1934 to Glen and Ruth (Merrill) Bugbee. She and her husband of almost 50 years, Danny, raised their children mostly in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Westfork, Arkansas in 1978 where Jo Ann was the lunchroom manager for Greenland School district for 13 years. They moved to Abilene in 1989. Jo Ann partnered with one of her sons to open Bogie’s Downtown Deli. After her retirement from Bogie’s in 2005, she chose to work at Ortiz Elementary Cafeteria until 2008 while caring also for Danny. After Danny’s death she volunteered at Day Nursery of Abilene on Vine Street as a Volunteer Grandparent. Many of the children and parents at Day Nursery grew to love her as much as her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren did. She was a loving, caring, generous and dedicated person. Her dedication to God and His son Jesus was strong throughout her life.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dan Tom Stoker, her parents and a sister, Charlotte Vulner. She is survived by four children, Sheldon Greene and wife Lynetta of Abilene, Texas, Billy Greene and wife Sheri of Murfreesboro, Tennesse, Michelle Rinker and husband Randy of Andrews, Texas and Brad Stoker of Lubbock, Texas along with 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Northern Oaks Living and Rehab Facility, Hospice of the Big Country and to Dr. Sandra Hazelip for showing her so much love and compassion in her last days. A Memorial Service will be held at Victory Church, 2943 South 6th Street, Abilene, Texas at 2pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Big Country or Day Nursery of Abilene are suggested.
