John Manuel Carver, 80, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in Abilene. He was born on April 9, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas to the late J.B. Carver and Elva D. Eoff Carver. Mr. Carver was a retired SSG in the U.S. Army, serving three tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW and DAV and loved his dog, Bolt.
He is survived by a daughter, Wendy K. Barrigan of San Angelo; a son, Manuel A. Carver of Germany; grandson, Devin Barrigan and wife Meghan; great grandchildren, Aiyana and Beauregard; brother, Gary L. Carver of Kyle, TX; sister, Carolyn J. Davis of San Angelo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Chapel, with a visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Graveside services with full military honors will be 2:00 PM Friday at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Pastor Brandy Helton and Pastor Grant Hill will officiate the services.
