

Kenneth D. Sylvester, 84, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at his residence in Abilene. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born on January 27, 1929 in Abilene, TX to Albert and Stella Fay Greer Sylvester. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and served his country for three years. Kenneth married Patsy Wetsel on May 19, 1948. He worked for Safeway Food stores for 32 years as a truck driver and also worked for Byrd Trucking hauling U.S. Mail. He was an avid fisherman who loved camping and being outdoors. Kenneth was a Baptist.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters, Geneva Rogers and Alberta Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Sylvester of Abilene; two sons, Keith Sylvester of Abilene and Darwin “Sly” Sylvester and his wife, Judy of Eula; two daughters, Debby Miller and her husband, Kenny and Angela Alexander and her husband, Steve all of Abilene; fifteen grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, TX 79601.
