L.J. "Charlie" Crawford

L.J. "Charlie" Crawford, 78, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Linda Crawford. Graveside services will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be this evening, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Crawford was born on May 5, 1937 in Abilene, TX to Marvin E. and Mabel Milliorn Crawford. He married Helen Ruth Hoyt on June 10, 1966 and she preceded him in death in December of 2001. L.J. served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy and also worked for Kent's Harley Davidson for 35 years as a motorcycle mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; a brother, Marvin Orlan Crawford; a sister, Verna M. Lewis; a grandson; and a daughter-in-law, Feather Ann Crawford. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Crawford; a son, Loran Jefferson Crawford, Jr. and his wife, Tracy; a granddaughter, Helen Crawford; a great-great-grandson, Garrett Jackson; a brother, Harold; and two sisters, Louise and Mildred.
