Lois Jeanette Shannon

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012, at the Church at the Cross Assembly of God, 3081 Edgemont Drive, with Reverend Jarred Owens and Reverend Larry Brazell officiating. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lois was born September 6, 1933 to John D. Morgan and Francis Elizabeth (Palmertree) Morgan in Groveton, Texas. She married Earl Shannon on June 21, 1947. In 1959, they moved from Winters, Texas to the Abilene area. Lois and Earl co-owned E & L Ornamental Iron. Lois enjoyed teaching Beginners Sunday School Class at First Foursquare Church. She was a member of the Church at the Cross Assembly of God.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Shannon (1993); her daughter, Marilyn Gregg Hanke; her brother, James E. Morgan; and her sister, Anona Sherman.

Survivors include her son, Michael Earl Shannon and daughter-in-law, Beth; grandchildren, Dawn Boyd (Shawn), Megan Belcher (Chris), Joel Shannon, and Christopher Hanke; great-grandchildren, Evan, Jase, Kate, and Elle Boyd; her sister, Janie Webb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
