Lou Sarah Evans

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Crescent Heights Baptist Church, 1902 North Mockingbird Lane, Abilene, Texas, with Pastor Rudy Fambrough officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Winters, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Lou Sarah Evans was born September 25, 1930, in Wingate, Texas and graduated from Winters High School in 1947. She married William Roy Evans on July 29, 1947, and they lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Lou was employed in the Claims Department of Travelers Insurance Company. The love of her life, Roy, preceded her in death in 1979 after 32 years of marriage. Lou will be buried next to Roy in the Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas. In 1980, she moved from Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Abilene, Texas to be near her family. Lou had been an active member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church since 1980 and served on bereavement, finance, and nominating committees. For many years, she also served as a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels Plus, Inc.; and she loved dogs, most recently her terrier, Susie.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Ara Busher; her husband, Roy Evans; and a sister, Dorothy Busher Hudson.

Along with her niece and caregiver, Donna Drennan of Abilene and nephew, Dale Hudson and wife Dianna of Tool, Texas, Lou is survived by her great-nephews, Shea Drennan and wife Karen of Dallas, Texas, and Brandon Hudson and wife Kayla of Lakeland, Tennessee. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Calvin Edwards, and wife, Joann of Grants, New Mexico and several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Eric Bengs, Ronny Burns, Sonny Carmichael, Marcus Fenner, and Jack Petty. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Busher and Fred Oakes.
