Lucy Martinez

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene, with Pastor Paul Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery, Hamby, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Jimenez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Pedro Tamez, III, Trinidad Contreras, David Sansom, Larson Wampler, and Regrio Carrillo. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the funeral home.

Lucy was born April 25, 1951 to Cipirana (Garcia) and Trinidad Contreras in San Antonio, Texas. She moved to Abilene sixteen years ago. Lucy was employed by Blue Bonnet Nursing Home in Albany, Texas as a nurse's aide. She married Juan Martinez. Lucy loved to dance and sing. She was a very outgoing person. Lucy had lots of friends and touched the lives of every person whom she encountered. She was funny and we will miss her very much. Lucy was a Catholic and a member of Living Water Ministries.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ernesto Contreras and Adam Contreras.

Survivors include her husband, Juan Martinez; son-in-law, Johnny Jimenez; two daughters, Mary Ellen Gomez and Rosalinda Martinez; two brothers, Amardo Contreras and Trinidad Contreras; eight sisters, Dora Rocha, Sylvia Cencerios, Norma Carrillo, Rachel Rocha, Nancy Contreras, Linda Rodriguez, Rosa DeHoyos, and Mary Alcarez; and four grandchildren, Gabriel Rodriguez, Pedro Tamez, III, Jordan Campos, and Christopher Jimenez.
