Manuel J Hickam, 92, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in Abilene. He was born on April 17, 1933 in Merkel, TX to the late Walter Hickam and Ethel Moses Hickam. Manuel served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked as a machinist for Timex and General Dynamics. He also served as a Freemason for 65 years and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two children, Dennis Hickam and Karen Harris and husband Randy; two grandchildren, Zane McBride and wife Ashley and Melissa Morris and husband Tony; three great grandchildren, Aiden Morris, Darrion Williams and fiance Arianna and Logan Williams; son-in-law, Jimmy Miller, extended family in Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Miller, his first wife, Sylvia Plumlee Hickam and his second wife, Betty Pate Hickam.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy 277 South in Abilene. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Abilene Municipal Cemetery.
