Margaret Arthur

Margaret Arthur, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 11, 2015. Margaret grew up and attended school in Stamford, Texas. After graduating from high school, she moved to Abilene to attend Draughon's Business College. Margaret worked for Southwestern Bell for 10 years. During this time she met and married Glynn Arthur. Margaret and Glynn were married 50 years. Glynn passed away on December 3, 1998. The Arthurs owned and operated Arthur's Cafeteria on N6th Street for 12 years. She then opened Arthur Real Estate which she owned for 10 years. Margaret was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for over 70 years. She participated in many church activities and attended the Sarah Sunday School class and LLL club.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Annie (Golightly) Mason; husband, Glynn Arthur; daughter, Sally Arthur; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include her son, Steve; granddaughter, Heather; niece, Ann Patterson and very special friend, Fran Robinson of San Antonio, Texas.

Visitation will be held 5 pm to 6pm Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Elmwood Memorial Park with Rev. Palmer McCown officiating.
