

Marjorie was born on March 4, 1921 to William Oren Beeman and Lucille Anderson Beeman in Wichita Falls, TX. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1940 and attended Abilene Christian University. She married L.B. (Pat) Amaon on May 11, 1942. They happily raised two children, Gary and Camille, until his premature death in 1972. Marjorie was a woman of faith whose wisdom was treasured by four generations. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and actively participated in the University Church of Christ in Abilene for over 50 years. Marjorie will be deeply missed but remembered for her dedication to her family, artistic passion, kind spirit, and unwavering faith.
Marjorie’s career as a medical secretary allowed her to serve the patients of several physicians in Abilene. After her retirement in 1985, you could often find Marjorie fine tuning her artistic talent working with oils, watercolors, and pottery in her studio. Today, her children and grandchildren proudly display her fabulous works in their homes. Many of her pieces were shown at a solo exhibit in 1980, a highlight of her artistic career. She moved from Abilene to the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake, TX in 2011 where she completed her last masterpiece at the remarkable age of 100.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucille Beeman; husbands, Pat Amaon in 1972; D.M. (Mark) Clinton in 1984; and Charles Ross in 2011; and siblings William Beeman, Alice Beeman, and Annette Wallace.
Marjorie is survived by her son Gary Amaon and his wife Paula of Austin, TX; daughter Camille (Tammi) Monzingo and husband Danny of Big Lake, TX; four granddaughters: Christy Barnett and husband Clay of Levelland, TX; Jeanie Smith and husband David of Searcy, AR; Julie Amaon and husband Sam Eder of Austin, TX; and Jill Royle and husband Andrew of Houston, TX; nine great-grandchildren: Connor Barnett, Colbi Barnett, Aaron Smith (Megan), Emily Hurley (Jared), Kaylee Smith, Amon Smith, Eli Smith, Tilly Royle, and Maddie Royle; and six great-great- grandchildren: Easton Smith, Finley Smith, Hollyn Smith, Jettson Smith, Teagan Hurley, and Oaklyn Hurley.
The family will receive friends and family at a visitation in Big Lake at the Reagan County Care Center from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene, TX. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
