Martha Lou Mitchell Bockman

Martha Lou Bockman, age 79, passed away September 6, 2014 at a local hospital. She was born May 20, 1935 in Spur, Texas to Clifford and Irene Smart Mitchell. Martha loved working in her yard and spending time outdoors. In her earlier years you might even find her operating the combine at the farm. Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald H. Bockman, Sr.; sister, Mattie Branch; and brothers, John A. Mitchell and Clifford Mitchell, Jr. She is survived by her children, Donald H. Bockman, Jr. (Donna), Sharon Bockman and Gayla Clearman (Keith); sister, Joyce May (Charles); four grandchildren, Julie Bockman, Brandi Goldman (Geff), Cody Byrd (Virginia) and Tiffany Byrd; five great grandchildren, Avery Goldman, Langston Goldman, Bryson Byrd, Damian Byrd and Jacoby Byrd; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Howard Cemetery in Haskell County. Arrangements under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Abilene, TX.
