Mary E. Edmond

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Reverend Eddie Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Abilene City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street. Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edmond was born September 13, 1917 in Marshall, Texas to Carrie B. Mallory and Cleveland Mallory. Mrs. Edmond graduated from Pemberton High School in Marshall, Texas. She became a Christian at an early age. Mrs. Edmond attended Macedonia Baptist Church where she was an active member. She worked in Abilene for the late Dr. Raymond Tull, Sr.

Mrs. Edmond was married to the late Hugh Edmond. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one daughter.

Survivors include one sister, Eva Green of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Cleo Bass (Tommy) of Lawton, Oklahoma; sons, Fred Spearman, Jr. (Toni) of Los Angeles, California and Willie Paul Edmond (Genette) of Abilene, Texas; her grandchildren, Victor Reece of Houston, Texas, Twanna Willis (Henry) of Abilene, Texas, Tina Poynter (Donald) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dennis Edmond of Brooklyn, New York, and Alice Littleton of Washington, D.C.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
