Mema was one of the strongest women we had ever known. She was a beautiful artist and left behind many beautiful paintings. Mema had so many talents, from teaching to building, sewing and even, an electrician. She always had a smile and a warm hug waiting for all her family. Mema had the softest hands we had ever felt.
She had lived a long, full and happy life. Mema married Calvin Shott on August 5, 1939 in Winters, Texas and had four wonderful children, two boys and two girls. They lived in Abilene, Texas until retiring and moving to London, Texas. There, they enjoyed their beautiful home on a spring fed creek with deer and my Mema’s bluebonnets.
There are so many fond memories we will carry on in our hearts. Mema will forever be missed, but will always live in our memories. She has been the rock of our family for 92 years and left many wonderful friends and family who loved her and were touched by her love.
She left behind a son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Linda Shott; a daughter, Peggy Spain; and son-in-law, Jim Nelson. Mema had 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren who all loved her dearly; and several nieces, nephews and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Calvin Shott, and later husband, Eugene Stovall; a son, Ronney Shott; a daughter, Patsy Shott; two sisters, Cleo Branham and Wanda Pearl Elms; and a brother, Euitt Elms.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Bobby Shott, Shane Shott, and Wayne Jackson; great-grandson, Taner Shott; and great-great-grandsons, Daniel Massey and Jeremy Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons, Tymber Carr and Justin Laurenzana, and a dear close friend, Mark Hall.
