Mary Francis Wittie

Mary Hudson Wittie, 79, went to be with our Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014, at her residence in Abilene. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary was born on December 4, 1934 to Emmitt C. and Sallie Childress Hudson in Merkel, TX. She moved to Abilene and became a lifelong resident. Mary loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ken Wittie; and her brother, Chester Hudson.

Survivors include her son, Dale Grice and wife, Rhonda; her five daughters, Marilyn Walden, Vada Bishop and husband, Walter, Cara Vancleeve, Carmen Schultz, and Janet Winstead; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
