Maxine "Mack" Smith

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Mission Abilene Church, 3001 N. 3rd Street, Abilene, TX 79603. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, TX, under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd Street. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Mack was born February 25, 1941, to Tommy and Irene Westerman in Graham, TX. She married Donald Smith on June 8, 1974, in Odessa, TX and was a wonderful homemaker. She was an active member of Mission Abilene. Every Sunday she would deliver donuts to the homeless. During her long battle with cancer, Mack taught her family about love and courage. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Smith of Abilene; four sons, Lester McCoy, Tommy McCoy and partner Henry Branstetter of Guthrie, OK, Jerry McCoy and wife Dana of Abilene, TX, Donald Ray Smith and wife Mary Alice of Stamford, TX; siblings, Leroy Westerman and wife Janene of Haskell, TX, Mary Gardner of Tye, TX, Tommy Westerman and wife Mary of Haskell, TX, Wanda Goswick and husband Billy of Abilene, TX; 12 grandchildren, Kelly, Halee, Shelby, Shayla, Daniel, Scarlett, Dylan, Ethan, Ethen, Mystikal, Hunter and Logan; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Layton; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Hendrick in the Oncology department and Hospice of the Big Country.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mission Abilene.
