

Mildred Lindsey Crawford DeVault, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Mildred was born on December 20, 1937 in Chambers County, Alabama to John W. and Jessie Lackey Lindsey. She grew up in Hobson City, Alabama near Anniston and Oxford and graduated from Calhoun County Training School (now known as C.E. Hanna Middle School) in 1955. Mildred married Sam T. Crawford, Sr. on January 16, 1957 and was a military wife for 18 years. Together, they traveled 30 USA states and did two tours to Lajes Field in the Azores.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Gwendolyn Crawford-Kelly and husband, Earl of Ashland, AL, Sam T. Crawford, Jr. and wife, Connie of Indianapolis, IN, and Michael A. Crawford of Abilene; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annie R. Morris of Chicago, IL, Marjorie Sullins and husband, Walter of Bridgeport, CT, and Dera Lindsey of Anniston, AL; one brother, William Lindsey and wife, Meredith of Greenville, NC; numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
