

Minerva Villarreal Castro, 60, died Friday, January 15, 2010, in a local medical center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Robert Bush officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Latin American Cemetery, Ballinger, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Minerva was born March 24, 1949 to Antonia (Jimenez) and Rosendo Villarreal in Robstown, Texas. She lived in Abilene, Texas most of her life. Minerva married Rogelio (Roy) Castro on June 30, 1979. She taught at Mann Middle School for 31 years. Minerva was very devoted to her family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and in her community. Minerva was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rosendo Villarreal.Survivors include her husband, Rogelio Castro of Abilene; a son, Roy Castro of Abilene; a daughter, Samantha Castro of Abilene; two brothers, Juan Villarreal and Rene Villarreal; four sisters, Maria Barrientos, Terri Alvarez, Gloria Reyna, and Leticia Reyes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
