A celebration of Patricia’s life is scheduled on Tuesday, February 15, at 2:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home .
She resided in the Abilene area 27 years. She married Joe Grundy in 1970 and they moved to Tuscola in 2001. She was a private piano teacher and an Avon representative for many years.
Patricia was proud to call herself a “Holy Ghost- filled Christian” whose lifelong goal was to please Jesus Christ. She was a dynamic piano player, played both piano and organ in many churches throughout the years, and blessed the Assembly of God Church she belonged to. She was a great bowler and had a witty sense of humor. She enjoyed watching “I Love Lucy,” and laughed at herself and her antics by calling herself Lucy, then called Joe her Desi. She kept her family laughing with her humorous sayings, such as “Oh, foot,” or “Crabapples.”
She had a strong personality that was to be reckoned with, and seemed to enjoy telling others just what to do. She took tremendous pride in her home, and wanted everything to be in perfect order at all times. She made certain that everything was color coordinated, and a peek into her linen closet always revealed shelves of towels comparable to Bed, Bath and Beyond. She dressed the same way, and all her beautiful outfits were perfectly matched in color.
Patricia enjoyed life, and loved to laugh and give joy to others. She was selfless and put the needs and wishes of others above her own; however, right next to her love for Jesus was her love and dedication for her family. She loved them and wanted to give them happiness above all else, and the icing on the cake for her was to be called Mamaw and Nanny by her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Zelma Lackey; sister Joyce Oneita Lackey; brothers James, Earl and Bobby Lackey; and sister-in-law Mary Lackey.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Joe Grundy of Tuscola; daughters Pamela Honea and husband Tracy of Abilene, and Gayla Bailey and husband Lowell of Abilene; three grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan and Calvin, all of Abilene; brothers Kenneth Lackey and wife Connie of Cleburne; sisters-in-law Faye Lackey and Jeanette Lackey, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elliott-hamil.com for the Grundy family.
