Services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene. Interment will follow in Hawley Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 PM also at the funeral home.
Paublo was born on November 27, 1928 in Abilene, Texas to the late Juan and Criselia (Moreno) Cortinaz. He ended his formal education early in life to begin working. He married the love of his life Maria Antonia Davila on November 7, 1948 in Corpus Christi. Together they settled in Abilene and raised their large family. Paublo instilled the value of hard work and responsibility into his children from an early age. Music was a vital part of the Cortinaz household. He also enjoyed playing baseball and boxing. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in later years he enjoyed attending the Salvation Army Church with his daughter. Paul was a talented Carpenter he poured his love for the craft into anything he created. He retired from Rose & Sons after many years. In retirement, Paul kept busy working on his ranch. He loved his family and enjoyed creating special memories and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sports activities. He was known as Rampa and Nano.
Mr. Cortinaz was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Maria Antonia Cortinaz; two daughters, Evangelina Carrion and Mary Helen DeAlba; two son-in-laws, Tony DeAlba and Ray Garcia Sr.; 2 granddaughters, Cindy Jan Diaz Cortinaz, and Angie Jolene Carrion; his brothers, John, Ben, Seferino, Maurilio, Frank and Isabell Cortinaz; his sisters, Irene Medina, and Juanita Rodriguez.
Left to cherish his memories include his five children, Joe Cortinaz, Paul Cortinaz (Vicki), Sandra Hewitt (Philip), Lucy Perales (Adolf), and Ester Cortinaz (Sissy); a son-in-law, Ricky Carrion Sr.; twenty-five grandchildren; sixty-nine great grandchildren; twenty-six great-great grandchildren; three grandchildren of whom he and his wife raised as their own, Ray Garcia Jr, Paul Garcia, and Marcus Garcia; and a host of loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
