

A memorial gathering will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on Highway 277 S. on November 6, 2021 at 6 PM.
Paul was born January 21, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. As a child, his family moved to Abilene where he grew up and graduated from Cooper High School. Athletic from a young age, Paul found his true passion as a runner, cyclist, and swimmer. He used these talents not only to participate in many competitions, races, and eventually triathlons, but also to run and own a local athletic based businesses for many years. He was affiliated with several athletic groups including the Abilene Runner’s Club and became a National Qualifier as well as participated in The Trifecta Triathlon. Though he was retired for several years, many people came to know him over a couple decades as their efficient, experienced and skilled tax preparer at Abilene Bookkeeping Company, the family owned business. When not racing, training, or working, Paul enjoyed classical rock music, discussing politics, cooking for others and generously caring for his rescued animals.
His parents, Paul F. Patterson Jr. and Connie Patterson, preceded him in death. Paul, an extremely caring and devoted husband, leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Tresa Smith Patterson. Other surviving members of his family include: a sister, Debbie Chavez of Abilene, a brother, James Patterson and wife, Debra of Abilene, and sister-in-law, Dennie Saul of Round Rock, as well as many nephews and nieces.
In honor of Paul, memorials or contributions may be sent to Rescue the Animals or the Abilene Runners Club.
