Raymond Gordon Fields

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd, Abilene. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Texas.

Raymond was born January 5, 1921, in Palacios, Texas. Mr. Fields retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Abilene, Texas, as a Postal Clerk.

Mr. Fields served in the U.S. Army with the 90th Division during World War II. During his time of service, he was awarded the silver star and the purple heart. Mr. Fields was a 32nd degree mason with the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Abilene.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 58 years, Loreta.

Survivors include his present wife, Kathryn; his children, David Fields and wife, Joyce, of College Station, Richard Fields and wife, Louise, of New Braunfels, Judy Cothern and husband, Doug, of Georgetown; three step-children; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Fields and wife, Jennie, of Bay City, Texas.
