

Rickey Lynn Buckner passed away on December 26, 2012 at a local nursing home after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born December 12, 1953 in Olton, Texas to Ernest Eugene Buckner and Viola (Harmon) Buckner.
Rick lived in Abilene most of his adult life and worked for many years for Dean Hagler and then for Heritage Paint. Rick was a commercial painter. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to watch football.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Eugene Buckner and a sister, Judy (Buckner) Girtz.
Rick is survived by his daughters, Michelle Egure and husband David, Heather Smith and husband Tommy; four grandchildren, Houston Tyler Smith, Mia Lilliana Egure, Madison Leigh Egure and Makenna Renee Egure; his mother, Viola Gilbreath; two brothers, Edwin Buckner and wife Linda, David Buckner and wife Leda; three sisters, Doris (Buckner) Carpenter and husband Danny, Karen (Buckner) Gardner and husband George, and Christi (Rogers) Torres and husband Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 South 27th, Abilene, with Reverend Wes Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at the funeral home.
