Roland Marion “Curly” Lane passed away December 25, 2020 in Abilene, Texas at age 86.
Roland was born on December 16th, 1934 in Pioneer, Texas to Opal Jones Lane and Clarence Lane. He graduated from Cross Plains High School. He married Dorris Faulkner in 1953 and they were married 67 years.
He worked for Hack Drilling until retiring and then farmed and raised cattle in Eula until a few years ago. He was always helping his neighbors with their farming or anything they needed. He lost the use of his left arm in a car accident over 35 years ago, but could do just about anything that a person with two arms could do.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Larry Lane and Bobby Lane, and two sons James Archer and Gerry Lane.
He is survived by his wife, Dorris; two sons, Clayton Lane and wife Linda, and Robert Lane and wife Tammy; two sisters, Pat Korzenewski and husband Tyrod, and Carolyn Cooke and husband Jimmy;
six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 4-6 PM at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy. 277 South in Abilene. Graveside services will be held at Eula Cemetery at 2PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
