Abilene, Texas 79603 with her friend and Pastor Rudy Fambrough officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on 277 S. in Abilene.
Rosa was born on September 23, 1933 in Nugent, Texas to the late Virgil and Callie Merle (Howard) Morris. She was the second of seven children born into this close-knit family. She and her siblings remained close throughout life enjoying their weekly Friday evening get together. Around 1940 the family moved to Abilene where she graduated from Abilene High School in 1952. She married WWII and Korean War veteran Bobbie G. “Bob” Wilson on July 10, 1954. Together they raised their family in Abilene where she was a devoted wife and mother.
She can best be described as a caregiver and always made sure her children were, “presentable”. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. Her family relationships, both immediate and extended, were always important to her. She worked for Paymaster Feeds for 12 years and eventually retired from Hodges & Fields Cotton Co. in 1993. While she loved her family, and they were the center of her affection, her faith was her firm foundation. She was a longtime member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school in the Children’s Department and was a longtime member of the Rebecca S.S. Class. Her legacy of faith, family and helping others will live on.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Wilson; her stepfather, E.E. Bristow of Hawley and her brother, Gilbert R. Morris.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her children, Lanny R. and his wife Nancy Wilson of Midland, Randal P. and his wife Gale of Rowlett and her daughter, Nancy Bishop of Abilene; her brothers, Bob, Gary and David Morris; her sisters, Judy Foller and Donna Marshall all of Abilene; 7 grandchildren, Bryan Wilson, Brittany Thomas, Ryne Wilson, Jennefer Hutto, Anna Gann, Baillie Gulley and Jeb Bishop; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
