Sandra Kay was born January 13, 1942 to David B and Velva Anderson. She married Ralph Sanders Bailey, Jr. and the couple had two children, Velvet and Shanan. Her second husband, John Henry Casey, was the love of her adult life; the two were inseparable. In fact, John loved her so much, he built an addition onto their house for his mother-in-law, Velva, to live with them until her passing.
Sandra Kay was an amazing woman and role model to her grandchildren, Tanner, Krista, Sarah Beth, and Ben. She taught us grammar from a young age, and never made us feel like we were too young to learn and play grown-up games like Scrabble. We used to joke that some kids had to visit their grandparents, but we got to visit ours.
After her husband John passed away, the family encouraged Sandra Kay to get a companion to keep her company and found her a sweet Chihuahua puppy named Abby. Grandma poured her love into that puppy like she was another child.
Sandra Kay was preceded in death by her parents, David B and Velva Anderson; her sister, Donna Rhea Anderson; her beloved husband John; and by her fur-baby, Abby. She leaves behind her daughter, Velvet and husband Tracy Doughty; her son, Shanan and wife Carrie Bailey; stepchildren, Donnie Casey, Ronnie Casey, and Patricia Ann Casey-West; along with grandchildren, Tanner and wife Tiffany Doughty, Krista and husband Michael Howell, Sarah Beth Bailey, and Benjamin Bailey. She was “GG” to Alyson and Connor Doughty.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home on Highway 277 South. Funeral services will be Monday, December 11, 2017 at 1pm, also at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home on Highway 277 South, followed by a graveside ceremony at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
