

Steven G. Brackman, 74, was called home to be with the lord on August 5, 2023. He left peacefully with his devoted and loving wife Teresa Renee Brackman by his side.
Steven was born on July 28, 1949 at his family home in Jacksonville, Illinois to the late Henry Lee and Olive (Bandy) Brackman, whom he dearly loved. After graduating High School he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war and received the Bronze Star Medal Award. After serving in the Navy he was employed by and retired from General Dynamics in San Diego, California where he started his beautiful family. Steven later settled in Abilene, Tx. Steven was loved and admired by all, he had a big heart and would not hesitate to help anyone in need. He loved painting, reading, Mexican music, eating out, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, antiquing and fixing anything and everything. Steven also enjoyed going to the Town & Country drive-in theater with his wife, grandchildren and fur babies. Steven will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; Elaine Thompson, Doug (Ann) Brackman, Finis (Donna) Brackman, Henry Lee (Shirley Ann) Brackman; daughter, Gina Louise Brackman Torres and first wife of 40 years, Sally Ortiz Gonzales Brackman.
He is survived by his supportive and caring wife Teresa Renee Brackman of 12 1/2 years; children; John Brackman San Diego, Ca, Angela Brackman Vecchio Garcia Smotherman; sister, Sue Catterson; grandchildren, whom he loved and adored, Sarah Torres (Jane McGillicuddy) Luckett and husband Kevon Ohio, Nicholas Brackman, Alex Brackman, Zachary Brackman(Odessa), Diego Brackman (San Diego, CA), Katie Vecchio and Joseph Vecchio; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family of Steven Brackman wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the Doctors and staff at Hendricks Medical Center North and his specialists Doctors for all the care and special attention; Dr. Cyril Obi, VA Doctor, Dr. Harbinder Arora, Dr. Chris Thompson , and Dr. Jose Vega. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses; April, Myra and the entire staff who took care of Steven at Northern Oaks.
