Tiny was born on May 12, 1931 in Haskell, TX the 2nd of 12 children born to the late Mary Opal (Robison) Copeland. She was raised in several towns in west Texas. Being a child of the great depression, she learned the value of hard work and thriftiness. Due to her humble upbringing she gained a strong inward determination and ambition, anything she set her mind to do she would see that it was carried through, in her way of course! She spent several years living in England following her husband’s military career where she enjoyed traveling Europe. She eventually returned and settled in Abilene where she worked for Dr. Voelter as his office manager. In 1981, Tiny started a career working with Elmwood Memorial Park as a family service counselor. She worked very hard to take care of the families at Elmwood and had a very successful career with the company until her retirement in 2004. Tiny moved to South Carolina to live with her daughter and relocated back to Abilene in 2013. She loved gardening especially tending to her roses. She was a pet lover a trait she inherited from her mother and then passed onto her kids. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church. Tiny approached life with a, “My way or the Highway” motto. She will be remembered for her brutal honesty, her devotion to her family, zest for life and her unique flair.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother; sisters, Lois Teichelman, Melba Jordan, Darlene Echols, and Ronda Allsworth; and her brother, Brad Copeland; her two precious dogs, Princess, and Angel.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Edwards(Linda Ann), Linda Morton(Ron), and Pam Vander Wielen(Gary); 6 grandsons, Quint Edwards, David Morton, Lance Vander Wielen, Sean Nelson, Donnie Edwards, and Jeff Vander Wielen; she was the beloved, ”Gran” to 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Nelda Lewis, Mary Jo Thomas, Beth Franklin and Ann Roseberry; her brothers, Sylvan “Bud” Cavitt, Jerry Don Cavitt an Curtis Cavitt; many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to: Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
