

Wilburn "Tex" Herring, 78, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in San Angelo, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at New Beginnings UPC, 5535 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, with burial following in Hawley cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be from 5:00p.m - 8:00p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
Tex was born on December 22, 1936 in Red River County, Texas to the late William Henry and Minnie Helen Stogner Herring. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Tex married Ada Lois Williams on October 23, 1958 in Seminole, TX. She passed away in July of 2004. Tex worked as a service station manager and mechanic for 26 years and as a truck driver for Gulf Oil Company for 19 years hauling muds and chemicals for the oil field. He was a member of New Beginnings United Pentecostal Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ada; sons, Tommye Gene Herring and Wilburn Raundale Herring; daughter, Marlene Herring; brothers, Aubrey, Willard and Howard Herring; sisters, Georgia Smith and Joyce Heasley; granddaughters, Raunda Belyeu and Edna Marie Herring; and great-grandsons, Kenneth Paul Kirk and Paul Williams III. Survivors include his daughter, Gaylene Williams and husband, Paul of Hawley; four sons, Richard Wayne Herring and wife, Stacey of Abilene, Tonni Joe Herring of Granbury, Shaun Herring, and Shane Herring and wife, Shayla Duval of Abilene; daughter-in-law, Janice Herring Rose; brother, Franklin Herring of Paris, TX, sisters, Pauline Harrison of Princeton, TX, Eulala Crow of Slaton, TX, and Marquetta Herring of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Nathan Herring, Tommye Joe Herring and wife, Chelsea, Ricky Herring and wife, Laura, Meagan Packwood and husband, Jayden, Rebecca Herring and husband Travis Stanley, Brittany Nicole Herring, Kacie Williams, Eddie Belyeu, Jr. and wife, Shara, and Amanda Williams; and 13 great-grandchildren.
