

April 2, 1929 – January 17, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Aldo Braida, B.A., LLB in his 93rd year. Aldo’s remarkable life began on April 2, 1929 in Acton, Ontario where Aldo was born to Italian immigrant parents, Abele and Agnes Braida. Aldo was the beloved brother of Dr. Raymond Braida (Pat), Dena Defend (the late Peter), the late Dr. Leno Braida (Ledia) and the late Mary Murray (Frank). Aldo was also the proud uncle of 10 nieces and nephews, great uncle of 19 and great, great uncle of one. Aldo touched all of their lives and will be missed deeply by them all.
Aldo received a degree from the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario and then his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario. Aldo was called to the bar in the Province of Ontario in 1955. Aldo was the first Italian speaking lawyer in Guelph, Ontario and maintained offices in Acton, Ontario and Guelph, Ontario throughout his entire legal career. Aldo was a believer of building strong communities and Aldo’s life of public service was vast. Aldo was a dedicated advocate and strong supporter of important projects that benefited veterans, seniors and palliative care patients. Aldo, was also a founding member of the Italian Canadian Club of Guelph, Ontario. In 2019, Aldo was awarded the highest honour of the Law Society of Ontario and was presented with the Law Society Medal in a ceremony at Osgoode Hall. This medal honoured Aldo’s dedication to his clients, the practice of law, his standards of ethics and integrity and his charitable giving’s and community involvement. Aldo loved the law and continued to practice up until the day of his passing.
Throughout Aldo’s life, Aldo played the trumpet and was a proud member of the Acton Citizen Band for 78 years. He was grateful for the friendships forged during those years.
Above all, Aldo was a kind and humble man never forgetting the sacrifices that were made by his parents for his and the successes of his siblings. Aldo’s dedication to his hometown of Acton, Ontario, his family and his friends knew no bounds. He will forever be loved and never forgotten.
