August 24, 1934 – February 8, 2022
On Feb 08, 2022 while surrounded by his family, Andy flew home on the wings of an eagle to be with his family in heaven. He leaves behind his loving wife Mary of 64 years. His son Dale (Aruna), Grandson David and Granddaughter April. He truly loved and adored his grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Neil, Dorothy, Marvin, Lillian, Joan, Jeff, and Vance. He was pre-deceased by his parents Walter and Sophie Anderson, and sister Thelma. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Andy had a rich and full life. He enlisted in the air force at age 17. He became a radar technician. He spent time working on the Dew Line. He has many stories to tell from his time there. He worked for ITT and Lee instruments as an electrical technician putting in the first computerized post office letter sorting systems and training the operators all around the world. He held other various jobs. He always had a story to tell from his youth, some of which involve his brothers. Other stories of his shenanigans from his working years will also be long remembered.
He was known as handy Andy to those who knew him well. He was very kind and supportive to the seniors in his community often doing various odd repair jobs, never accepting more than the cost of the items required to do the repairs. He took great pride in ensuring his work was well done! He was always proud of the special home-made treats he often brought home as a reward for a job done well. He also kept busy with many outdoor activities for himself and others, which helped keep him physical fit until his last months.
Andy was extra-ordinarily generous in hosting the family Christmas dinner every year. These created many special memories and stories for those who attended.
He was well loved and will be missed by many, but will certainly not be forgotten.
As per Andy’s wishes cremation has taken place
