Barbara Jean Layfield (nee: Conrad), age 53, of Akron, passed away October 13, 2013. She was the beloved wife for over 37 years of Fred. She was the devoted mother of Dwayne, Amanda, and John and dear stepmother of Elzie Simons. Barbara was the proud grandmother of Kayla and Raymond Summers, Owen Kilbel, and Amber and Alex Layfield, loving sister of Jean Freeman, Helen Stoddard, Ruby Lilly, Lorene Lowery, Tina (Adam) Evans, Jerry and Bob Conrad, Ralph (Darlene) Conrad, Randall (Lona) Conrad, and a loving aunt of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents Grover and Rose Conrad, sisters Edna Conrad and Linda Peppard and her brother Jay Conrad.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 16, 12pm at the CATAVOLOS FUNERAL HOME 3653 W. Market St. Fairlawn, where family will receive friends from 10am until time of services. Pastor Robert Webb Jr. from Victory Chapel will be officiating.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery Friday October 18th at 10:45am.
In lieu of flowers, contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
