Chaker T Debs

Chaker Tanios Debs, age 79, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on July 18,2017. He was born October 20, 1937, in Deir él Ghazal, Lebanon, where he met his wife Micheline (Sadie) of 55 years. Chaker immigrated to Akron, Ohio, on July 25, 1977, with his wife and three children. He and his wife owned and managed several restaurants in the Akron area (Tony's Gyro and Pizza, Marlene's Cuisine, and Pita Pocket Express). He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. He enjoyed spending time, at church, Sunday barbecues with the family, and singing to Wadih el Safi.

Chaker was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Survived by his wife Micheline (Sadie) Debs, children Marlene (Rick) Stalnaker, Fadi (Shelena) Debs, and Tanios (Mirna) Debs; siblings who reside in Lebanon- Chakri, Virginie, and Antoinette; grandchildren Sean, Kristin, Joshua, Alexandria, Amanda, Andrea, Andrew, Anthony, Hannah, Angela, and Joel; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Haley, Madeline, Emma, and Natalie; many nephews and nieces.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 21, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home at Rose Hill on 3653 W. Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333. The prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Viewing will be held at 10 a.m followed by the Funeral services at 11 a.m on Saturday, July 22, at St. George Antiochian Church, 3204 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn, OH 44333, with Fr. Youhanna Al-Assaf officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park.
