Doris J. Unkel

Doris J. Unkel, age 94, of Rittman, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Autumnwood Nursing Home in Rittman. Doris was born May 13, 1930 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Alvin and Jessie (Lyon) Spice.

Doris was a faithful member of the Rittman Community Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to go camping with family at Lake Wapusun. She enjoyed doing crafts, but most recently Doris and her daughter Cindy were making Bracelets from the Heart and touched many women with their talent.

Besides her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her first husband Charles Parker, her second husband Carl Unkel, her sisters, Faye Tinsman and Delores Gammell. Faye was 95 when she passed, Dolores was 93 when she passed.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Benek of Rittman and Cindy (Bob) Jones of Rittman; six grandchildren, Noah (Cookie) Wemmer of Parma, Charles (Chantil) Wemmer of Wadsworth, Georgette Bejcek of Barberton, Jessica (James) Hostettler of Creston, Leslie (Dale) Youmans of Wadsworth, and Maggie (Jason) Boggs of Wadsworth; and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Doris's life will be held 2PM Saturday, September 7th in the South Main Street Church of God, 261 S. Main St. in Rittman. Interment will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Doris loved God, and loved her family, she will be fondly remembered as a Feisty Firecracker.
