My dearest mom,

This is the first Christmas without you.  Nothing feels the same.  There is an emptiness that could not be filled.  I missed you so much mom!! Dad also misses you too.  I miss talking to you on the phone, and hearing your voice on the line.  You are the first person that I would call when I need guidance and a shoulder to lean on.  You always know the right words to say and sometimes I feel lost without you.  It's moments like these that makes me appreciate you more.  People often say, "When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us." I know that you are watching over our family and smiling from above.  You know mom, you would never believe that I went back to work full time after taking a break for 22 years.  God is so good to our family.  He knew that I needed this job to help me move on after your passing.  I have had so many restless nights that I could not sleep since you were gone.  Only God knew mom.  I hope 2018 will be a better year for our family as we pick up the pieces and try to move forward.   Just a few words to let you know how much I love you, and I will always cherish the great memories we had together.

It's impossible for us to say how much we love you, respect you and adore you, because not only you were a great, perfect mom and grandmother to all of us, but also a good, faithful and devoted Christian with a big heart who always gave love and cares to others. Throughout your temporary life on Earth, you had helped countless people who were in needs, materially and spiritually, and brought many non-believers to God so they can be saved. Mom, words can't adequately express our love, good memories, our deep feelings, and great respect to you, as well as our appreciations to all that you had done for us. In my case, you helped lead me to God and surrender to Him, so I can be saved and will surely have an eternal life in Heaven. Helping me to believe in God and accepting Him as my Savior was a gift that keeps on giving every single day in my life. You were a perfect role-model who greatly helped strengthen my spiritual life and shaped my perspectives of life. You gave me valuable advice and wise guidance whenever I needed. You helped me to become a better son, husband, father, uncle and, most importantly, a better Christian man. I had too many unforgettable memories with you that I will forever treasure. Not only you were a great mom and grandmother, you were a wonderful wife who deeply love and support Dad in his dedication and relentless commitment to be a faithful servant of God. I don't need to mention how much you love Dad, because we all know that. But, one thing that still sticks in my mind about what you did only two weeks ago when you slowly walked down to the basement, while still weak after returning from hospital, to care for Dad's health. You counted his prescribed medicines and carefully arranged the pills in a box so Dad can have the right pills for the whole week. How great was that loving and caring act! Words can't describe. You were so caring and thoughtful, and you loved all of your children and grandchildren so much that you remembered the birthday of each and every one of us. Every year since I became your son-on- laws in 1988, I consistently received your birthday card/well-wishes and gift right on my birthday, no matter where I lived. I never forget how caring and dedicated you were to pray for my mom in Vietnam. You encouraged Phuc, Danny, Timmy, Tracy and me to patiently pray for my mom for her to accept God so she can be saved like us. God granted our prayers. My Mom received God in 2015, after being a Buddhist for more than 80 years, before she went to Heaven with God, last October. Mom, thank you for your support, encouragement and perseverance since you knew nothing is impossible to God. 
Mom, last but not least, we will miss all the good foods that you had willingly and lovingly cooked for us over the years. I will miss your "mi Quang","xoi duong" and "banh la gai" the most. Those delicacies will forever be gone now you are with God. And Lam used to say that none of your daughters could make those foods as good as you did, even if they tried really hard. I totally agreed with him because I know he is right.

"That's you, Thuan? How are you doing?" I still can hear that lovely voice of my dear Sister in Christ, Mrs. Duyen thi Nguyen (Dang)!! A long, long time friendship help hold us through many up and downs, happiness and sick time. War and peace. She is one of a kind and we, our family miss her greatly. Still store many text messages from her, at the end when she wasn't able to talk on the phone. The Lord truly bless us with a great Godly friend and many good memories.
Thanks be to God for His mercies sending to us in different ways.

Lot of thanks for sharing the good deeds of your mother. I am amazed to know that she used to be so much devoted to God, loving mother and a good neighbor. I felt that Nguyen family is very lucky to have such a mother. Her pity and love to humanity will be an inspiration and example to all around her. I pray that she may be placed at the right hand side of God in haven. Though it is not so easy as human, but its time to console ourselves and rejoice for the impression and example set forth by her.

Mom, what a lonely, emptiness summer break I had this year.  You know how I always looking forward to summer break because I will have more time with you and Dad. I love to come over your house so we can go walk in the park, go shopping, play Scrabble, or just go out to eat.  The last few years I had a chance to go on vacation with you to Portland, Cancun, and New York City and those times are so precious to me.  Thanks Toan for encouraging me to go on those vacations.  Mom for 55 years, I had learned so much from you. I learned how to serve The Lord with a humble heart, how to love and forgive, how to cook and many more. Recently, you taught me how to do Peanut Candy Brittle and I still cannot do it without your help. Mom, I really thank God for being your daughter. You are so pretty, intelligent, fun, loving, and know so much about life. Thank you for supporting me in everything, every bad or good situation that I am in and for always reaching out to help me.  You did not just love me, but you also reached out and loved my husband and children as well.
 You are now with the Lord Jesus in heaven. I miss you so, so much. Words cannot describe how much I miss you. My heart is aching and I long for your hugs, kiss, and your sweet voice when you called me HanhNi do this and do that.

I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such a loving mom. You always cared for me and reminded me to seek God's wisdom in everything that I do, big or small, and to walk in his ways.  I learned how to be respectful towards others, have a generous, caring and serving heart through seeing how you lived your life.  I will cherish all the fond memories that we had and the many countless, deep conversations in the car during our long road trips to New York, North Carolina, or short trips to Macy's or Cleveland for dim sum. Each of those precious times will remain with me and I will never forget them. I love you mom with all my heart, mind, and soul. I look forward to the day that I will be reunited with you in heaven. Until that day comes, I will continue to carry your legacy and teach Jaden and Faith what you have taught me. That is, to seek first God's kingdom and live a life to glorify and honor him. 7/9/17. Today is truly one of the saddest days of my life. Grandma, you are the strongest and most selfless person that I know. For so long, you fought lung cancer with everything you had. You were the anchor of our family and always took care of every single one of us. You're home with God now, and you never have to feel any pain or suffering again. I wish that you could stay here with us forever, but I know I'll see you again in Heaven. I love you so much and will never forget you 

I love you Grandma! It has been an honor and a privilege to live with you these past 21 years. Thank you for taking care of me all these years and showering me with your abundant love. You never missed any major events in my life and attended every single event that I invited you too. You never missed a birthday, a graduation, a recital, an awards ceremony, or anything important to me. It is still unreal and I cannot believe that you are actually gone for now. Walking past your room these past few days has not been the same and I never imagined how difficult this would be. These have truly been the saddest days of my life, but God had a plan for you and he has a plan for each and every one of us that you left behind. I'm happy that you are at peace now with no more pain and no more suffering. You fought the good fight and you kept the faith. Cancer could not stop you and you did not fear death.

I'm glad that you got to see me get my white coat and start my medical school journey. However, I had always pictured you there at the end of this journey, watching me cross the stage and becoming a physician. Though you will not be physically present at the end of this journey, I know that your presence will fill the place as you watch down on me from Heaven. God-willing, I will complete this journey and I will carry your love, faith and legacy that you have instilled within me for all the days of my life until I meet you again in Heaven.

I'm not someone who normally shares a lot about my personal life, but today is different. Today I want to share the story of a woman who has shown me what true strength is. Fighting off lung cancer for as long as she could, today, July 9th, 2017 my grandma has been called up to Heaven. One of my biggest regrets is thinking that I had another chance to talk to her within the next few weeks when I get home. If only I took to heart that truly we don't know what will happen tomorrow. If I knew this, I would have called her every day, letting her know how much I love her and how much she means to me. Though she's away for now I know I'll see her again and the lessons she has taught me will always stay with me. First and foremost, always keep God at your center and all you do, you do it for Him. Secondly, no matter the situation pray. Always maintain your relationship to God. Through the hills or through the valleys, never cease praying. She was a true prayer-warrior, and the lessons she has instilled in me will be with me forever.


My grandmother is an incredible woman, everyone here and the response from the community is proof of that. Shes loving, generous, strong, tenacious, intelligent, wise, etc. The list could go on forever with someone as amazing as she is. She did missionary work in the jungles of Vietnam, could speak German, English and Vietnamese, remembered all 30+ members of her familys birthday, raised her family in another country..and thats barely scratching the surface. It makes my brothers and I put into question what have we done with our lives? And that realization is why she is not a good or great role model but an exemplary one. The impact and accomplishments of her life speak for themselves, her legacy lives on. She rarely told us, if ever, of her accomplishments. Her influence could be seen in the impact and lives that she touched. When it came to family, she was the rock of our family, our foundation. Family was very important to her. Dinner at our grandparents place on Sundays after church was commonplace growing up. She always loved having us over and seeing her grandchildren. She remembered all of our birthdays, and our family isnt exactly small, but she remembered them all because she cared. Our grandma taught us a very valuable lesson in the way that she lived. From her life, she taught my brothers and I this extremely valuable life lesson, God and Family, Forever and Always. She personified that sentiment. Though you are no longer here, your candle did not burn out. No, grandma yours is too strong and bright to burn out. Instead your flame is just inherited by those whose lives you impacted. Your family, the members of the church and everyone here. Though it may sound cliché we know that this isnt goodbye but just a see you soon grandma

Today we are all together to celebrate the life of an amazing human being. My grandmother was the best role model a person could ask for, and my sister and I were lucky enough to grow up with her being a big part of our lives. She left an imprint on everyone she met, whether strangers, nurses, or doctors. she was known for her sweetness, hospitality, and loving nature. She was brave and strong during her long fight with lung cancer. My sister had the opportunity to stay overnight with our grandma during her stay at the hospital last week. After Grandma prayed, Lauren got emotional and began to cry. Our grandma looked my sister in the eye, held her hands, and said, "Lauren, don't cry for grandma. I'm ok." As a six-month estimate stared her in the face, she stared back and said she was not afraid. She was not afraid to go because she knew she had lived her life for Christ and knew the reward. My grandmother was satisfied knowing that she had indoctrinated and instilled in her family a Christian foundation and we acknowledge her as the prime example and embodiment of her teachings. This was observable up to the day of her passing. Sunday was her last day here on earth, she was not doing well. Despite of this, she insisted that the majority of her family forego their plans of visiting her, and instead attend Sunday service. It was right after church that I arrived at the hospital, and minutes later, she passed away. Although she has left the pain of this world behind, I know she is in Heaven, seated at the eternal table of God. I am so thankful and grateful to God for blessing our family with the kind, gentle, sweet, loving, and God-fearing person that is my grandma, who will continue to be an inspiration and example for this family for generations to come. Thank you grandma. You will continue to change us through your legacy, your love, and your life. We love you grandma, and we can't wait to see again.

Ba Ngoai was the best grandmother we could ever ask for. She was always right there for us from the very start. We always knew how much she loved us from the very bottom of her heart. She did all things with love; we could feel her love whenever she told us to eat more! or when she told us she was proud of us. Thank you for always believing in us, always encouraging us, and always loving us. She never forgot our birthdays or any of her 30+ grandkids birthdays.

Ba Ngoai valued God first and family second and she instilled that value in her children and grandchildren. She set an example with her faithfulness to God. Through her, we are blessed for having a large loving, close knit family that walks with our Savior. 

Every birthday, graduation, and holiday will never be the same. We will miss her presence and while we are sad at her passing, we are at peace knowing Ba Ngoai is without pain and suffering. She is in a better place; she is in Heaven with our Lord Father where He can tell her, Well done, my good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25:23)

I'm very sad that my Grandma is no longer with us. I'm thankful that I never had to miss a Christmas when she was still with us. When I was young, during the Summers my family and I would travel to Ohio to visit Grandma and the family for the whole month of June. As I got older, my family's schedule got busier and we started coming to Ohio less, I wish I had more time to spend with her.

I will never forget, my Grandma's value on education, serving God and her generosity. She knew my Vietnamese wasn't the best so when we would do scripture readings during bible study she never once pressured me to read. She was really smart, coming to America as a immigrant, you'd think her English vocabulary would be bad but to my surprise she knew her stuff. After bible study on most nights. You'd find her my mom, her, and anyone else who came that night, in the basement playing Scrabble. They would keep score on paper and on most nights my Grandma would win. The way we remember this is because my mom would be making lemonade, brownies, or chocolate chip cookies for us after she lost. She also made sure we as cousins focused on our education and always trusting God. Every time we came, on the way home my Grandma would give my brother and I each $50 to save for education. She always encouraged me to study hard so I could have a bright future. I miss her very dearly and and everything she taught me will always be remembered.

Our Grandma was such an inspiration to my siblings and I. We are inspired by her because of all the hardship she been through in her life. She, raised 13 amazing children and made sure they all had a good life and future. She left everything she knew and loved behind in Vietnam to build a family in the United States. Ultimately she battled cancer to the end. We learned from her to always be determined, to never give up and to keep moving on. We always looked up to you as a role model and loving figure.

One of the many memories that we treasure was in 2006 when we lived with Ong Ba Ngoai. Everyday after school we would be welcomed by your warm smile and stern reminders to do our homework before playing...(which we seldom listened to then). We will remember the delicious homemade meals and treats that we we're blessed to enjoy. Whether it was remembering each and every one of our birthdays to instilling life lessons onto each and every one of us. Romans 14:8 If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. She lived vivaciously each and everyday following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Your faith inspired us to do more for ourselves and others. You always showed Christ-like love to us and others around you. She is an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her. She left behind an amazing legacy. We hope that one day We can leave behind a great legacy like her.  We miss you so much Grandma. 2 Corinthians 5:8 - We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord., We know that you are in heaven filled with happiness watching us from above. God has truly blessed our family with the best Grandma anyone could ask for.

We love you Ba Ngoai. Faith and I are going to miss you a lot. You were an inspiration and a role model to us both and we are honored to have a grandma like you. You are the best grandma we could ever asked for. You are a kind, loving caring,compassionate and Godly woman.You always told us to put God first and love him with all your heart, soul, and mind. We will miss all of the fun times that we had on vacation together. Im so glad that we got to go to Cancun, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Key West and so many other places together. My favorite memory of you is when we were in Puerto Rico and it was humid. We all were thirsty and we found a vendor that sold fresh coconut that he grew in his backyard. We also got to enjoy sweet fresh papaya. You were feeding Ong Ngoai papaya and drinking coconuts. You had a really big smile on your face and that brought me a lot of joy inside.
I am sad that you will not be there when I graduate from High School at CVCA in 2 years. Ong Ngoai said that he will be there at my wedding. Selfishly I should of ask you to too. Then maybe you would still be here like Ong Ngoai. Faith and I will also cherish all of the memories we have with you in my heart. Faith and I will take care of Ong Ngoai every single day we can and make sure he is healthy. I'm so glad to that we were blessed to be able to have many picture with you and to be able to go on so many trips with you. Thank-you Ba Ngoai. You will be dearly missed.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  

I will always remember that Grandma gave me a mini green jade bracelet that matched the one Grandma always wore. This made me feel very special. I just wishGrandma could still be with all of us. Grandma loved it every time our family came to Ohio to visit her. Finally, I remember that grandma never forget my birthday even though we lived far away. I love and miss Grandma so much.

Even though I grew up in Illinois, I always knew that I had a special connection with my grandparents. This was because, throughout my life, I always traveled to Akron every opportunity I had. Whether it be spring break, thanksgiving break, winter break, or summer break. My answer to what my plans were was the same each year: I'm going to Akron to visit my family. Though my friends initially questioned why Akron, Ohio? They soon all realized that this place meant so much to me. And this was solely because of family. Every time we came to Ohio, we would stay at my grandparents house with all my cousins. While there were definitely chaotic times as expected with a large house full of growing kids running around, my grandma always showered all of us with love and happiness. At this home, my grandma created such a joyous atmosphere and was one of those few people that you can only describe with one word: and that is love. 

When I think about Grandma, there are so many fond memories that I can not just speak about one of them. However I can speak about one trait that I believe embodies my Grandma best, and that is selflessness. She always placed the needs of everyone else before herself. Not just the needs of her many children and grandchildren, but everyone in her life. 

Grandma was so caring. 
Every year, I remember looking forward to opening my mailbox exactly on my birthday because I knew my grandma would never forgot a single one of my 18 years. Incredibly, she was always able to time it so that I would receive my birthday card on my exact birth date not a day earlier or later. But the best part was that on every birthday, Grandma and I would talk on the phone. The conversations varied as I aged, but a few things remained the same. Grandma always told me to keep God at the center of my life, to study diligently in school, and finally, she always made sure that after every call I knew that she loved me deeply. And that goes such a long way. I will treasure those cards and our conversations together for the rest of my life. 

Furthermore, not only did Grandma always tell me to love the Lord with everything I had, she showed me what that looked like. My Grandma was someone that truly represented the image of God. This was clearly seen in the way Grandma treated other people, family or not, her continual reliance on God and His provisions, the way she always relied on the power of prayer, and finally her relentless faithfulness to God. 

All in all, I promise to always put God first in my life and to become a man that my Grandma would be proud of. My Grandma may not physically be here anymore, but I know that she will always be watching over all of us from Heaven. We will Love you forever Ba Ngoai. You will always have a very special place in all of our hearts.

I had known my mother-in-law for over 16 years.  She was a wonderful person who was loving, smiling, caring, and always giving infinity and mostly, her dedication to the Lord.  She told us, "always pray in every situation because God has an answer for everything."  My mother-in-law had a tremendous memory because she remembered all her children's phone numbers and birthdays.  She always called me every year on time to say, "Happy Birthday", even though everyone else forgot because of their busy lives.  I will miss you dearly from now on because there will be no more phone calls and no more good food from you.  Surely God knows what is best for you so you don't have to suffer any longer.  We will meet you one day in heaven.
                                                                                                                              

Our grandmother was a special woman. To us, she is an example of what a strong woman of faith should be. On her last day, we planned to stay at the hospital with her but she told us to go to church instead. She said church was more important. Even though she was in critical condition, she put God before herself. She placed God first throughout her life. She inspired us to do our best in everything we do and to do it for Christ. 
Our grandmother loved family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved it when family would come over and visit. When we visit, our grandmother made sure we were taken care of and had plenty to eat. She was such a caring and loving person. Our grandmother always prayed for others. She prayed for us and asked that God give us a brother. God blessed us with Micah. It makes us sad that Micah is too young and wont really remember our grandmother. But we will tell him all about herhow special and loving she was. 
Our grandmother was also supportive and encouraging. While she was ill, she promised Sarah and I that she would attend our golf and volleyball games one day. Even though she didnt get the opportunity to, we will continue to play as if she was watching. She also encouraged Leah to not be afraid and to sing in church. Whatever our skills were, our grandmother encouraged us to do the best we can. We will always remember her words: to know and serve God; to put God first in our life; to act and dress proper; to love our siblings and be a good example for them; and to study and work hard.
We regret not spending enough time with our grandmother. We wish we had talked and shared with her more. We wish we hugged her more. We wish we told her just how much she really means to us. We really miss our grandmother but we know she is in a better place. We know we will be able to see her again someday.

Our mother was born Duyen Thi Ngoc Nguyen December 16 in 1938 in the village of Binh Que, district of Thang Binh and province of Quang Nam, Viet Nam. 

Mother was born into a prosperous family of landowners who practiced Confucianism.  Our grandfather, her father, was Du Nguyen; her mother---Nho Thi Nguyen.  Mother was preceded in death by her three older brothers and survived by an older sister.
 
Our mother was always kind-hearted. She lived with humility and simplicity, gaining the affections of all those around her.  Mother was also extremely intelligent and loved to write poetry.  She also possessed a great love for music and the arts.  Mother actually played the mandolin in her younger days and was an outstanding student at Phan Chu Trinh High School in the province of Quang Nam.

 At the age of 16 she heard the Gospel, the salvation through Jesus Christ and gladly accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. According to the church history at the Binh Que church, she was the first convert in the village of Binh Que and is considered the first fruit of the Binh Que church.
 
At the age of 18, mother married a young bureaucrat who came to Binh Que as a government official for the provincial government of South Viet-Nam in the district of Thang Binh. That government official is the Reverend Cang Ngoc Dang. After they were married in 1957, with the full support of Mrs. Dang, both were enrolled in Bible College of the Vietnam Christian Mission. 
She was an excellent student and was valedictorian of her class.  Bright, wise, humble and gentle, our mother found favor with her professors and was loved and respected by her peers.

 Our mother and father, Reverend and Mrs. Dang, were blessed by God, and everywhere that the Vietnam Christian Mission sent them---from planting new churches to caring for existing churches---their work for God flourished. 

Loving God deeply, they served the Lord wholeheartedly and were willing to go anywhere God led, even in places of great travail, deepest jungles or poisonous waters. One such place is the jungle of Bong Mieu with its polluted waters in the province of Quang Nam where there were no Christian believers; mother and father were compelled to start a church in this dangerous territory. Wherever God directed them, the family was willing to obey. They founded many churches in Viet Nam.

 In 1967, the Vietnam Christian Mission sent them to Tam Ky which is also an unevangelized territory with no established Vietnam Christian Mission church.  After seven years in Tam Ky and with much hard work and sacrifice, mother and father were able to build a vibrant church, a school for grades 1-12, a pediatrics clinic, an orphanage housing 276 orphans, a career training center, three satellite churches and with the sponsorship of the German Christian Mission they also built a Childrens Hospital servicing the entire province of Quang Tin. 

Because of her gentle, loving and sacrificial spirit, the orphans regarded her as their mother and the workers in the Thien An Center for Medical, Social and Cultural Advancement, which the Dangs established, considered her as their older sister. 

The life and the good deeds of Reverend and Mrs. Dang have been written in many publications here in the United States and also in Europe.

 Our mother was well versed in English while she was in Vietnam and was instrumental in assisting our father in dealing with the many charities abroad. She also studied German for two years under the tutelage of a German missionary and contributed much time and energy to the economic and social advancement of the people in the province of Quang Tin.  She also served as the adviser for the Women's Service League, of which the wife of the governor of the Quang Tin province was president.

 In 1975, in the aftermath of the civil war, mother and her family escaped Vietnam through the maritime route with the ship Sai Gon 110 of which Reverend Dang organized and lead the exodus. By the grace and protection of God, they left Vietnam safely and settled in Akron, Ohio under the sponsorship of the Chapel Church under the pastorship of the Reverend David Burnham. 

In Akron she enthusiastically assisted father in starting the Vietnamese Akron Church.  It began with just a few families and now is a vibrant, dynamic church. With hard work and dedication, she helped with the family finances and raised her children to fulfill their dreams, become successful and make their own contributions to society and community.

Although she was busy with the church and family, our mother  was always willing to assist her fellow countrymen. She volunteered her time with translation and helped many of her fellow Vietnamese find work, buy cars and houses, go to doctors, clinics and hospitals.  There were many times she stayed overnight with patients in hospitals who needed her support.

 As a wife, she always fulfilled her duties with devotion, love and respect.  As our mother, she loved all her children and taught them to fear the Lord.  Mother also encouraged each and every one of her children to worship and serve Him.  

Mother remembered all the birthdays of her children, her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law and all her grandchildren.  She faithfully sent birthday cards with a gift inside for each of them, although she only had 13 children, 12 sons and daughters in law and 33 grandchildren. 

From her perspective, loving God, serving Him, spreading the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ, loving her husband, children, relatives and neighbors were the utmost importance in her life.

 By the grace of God, He answered her prayer, which was: When I reach an old age and am with an illness, You will soon take me to heaven because I do not want to be a burden on my family. 

With an answer to this prayer, God called Duyen Thi Nguyen home to be with Him peacefully Sunday July 9, 2017 at 6:27 PM after four days of hospitalization. 

She leaves behind the great love and affections of her husband, Reverend Cang Ngoc Dang with whom she enjoyed 61 years of marriage and the love of her 13 adoring children, (four boys, eight girls and an adopted daughter) 12 sons and daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren.  

She will be greatly missed by the congregation of the Akron Vietnamese Church, her relatives and all those who knew and loved her.  The late Mrs. Duyen Thi Nguyen has fought the good fight, has finished the race and has kept the Faith. The crown of glory has been reserved for her. ( 2 Timothy 4:7-8)


Little I knew that morning, God was going to call your name, in life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.  It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of me went with you, the day God called you home.  You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.  Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.  (anonymous)

What a perfect poem to describe what our family felt that morning when God call our dear Mother home to him.  We miss you mom and we love you very much!

Mom,
You may be gone, but you will always be in our hearts.  I miss you mom!

I cannot speak of Duyen without speaking of the whole family.  I knew and came to love Pastor and Mrs. Cang, their family and the many orphans under their care when I worked with a mission group in Vietnam in 1972-1974.  I was privileged to experience their great hospitality many times, eating meals in their home, and they were always excellent.  The Lord worked through the family in many ways to directly influence hundreds, yes, thousands of people through their ministries at their church, home for children, school, medical facilities, etc.  The Spirit of God was evident in all of these ministries.  Only God knows how many widows, orphans, prisoners, refugees and other needy people experienced the grace of God through their witness.  All of this plus the 13 children, extended family members, and others who lived under their roof.  They have planted many gospel seeds in Vietnam that are still sprouting this day.  Even after their circumstances drastically changed in 1975, God has continued to use them in great and mighty ways.  Duyen and her family have done this through simple trust in the Lord and not leaning upon their own understanding.  And now after a lifetime of His faithfulness under many challenges, Duyen has gone on to her reward.  Though I have not seen her now for 43 years, I will miss her.  Precious [carefully watched over] in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones (Psalm 116:15).  Blessings and God's comfort and peace to Pastor Cang and all family members.
