

George was born on June 24, 1940 in Pomeroy, Ohio to George and Lorraine (Swisher) Hicks. George entered the Air Force when he was sixteen, and served until they found out he was underage. He was a jack of all trades, owning multiple businesses including a mini mart on West Exchange, a computer company where he wired homes and businesses with computer lines, and finally becoming a long distance truck driver. He then delivered mail all over the United State for an independent company. He was a member of the Independent Truck Drivers Association. George was also a member of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Akron.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Pat and Aunda.
George will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Maryann, brothers-in-law, Gene Klein Sr. and Peter (Karen) Pankov, sister-in-law, Rose (Keith) Hipple, nieces, Diane Smith, Linda (Vernon) Keith and Tracy Pankov, great-nephews, Rick (Ashley) and Travis Frazier, great-great nieces, Mya, Khia and Isla, and close friends, Susie Farrell and Jim (Vickie) Miller.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street, Akron.
