Jack graduated from Garfield High School and later earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Akron. As a young man, he worked full time while attending night school, all while raising four children—an early testament to his discipline, determination, and tireless work ethic. He went on to spend the majority of his career as Plant Manager at McNeil NRM, where he was respected for his leadership, precision, and steady presence.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Fran Doll, with whom he shared an ideal partnership in every facet of life. Together, they built a home defined by laughter, loyalty, and mutual devotion. Jack had a remarkable ability to make Fran laugh at the drop of a hat—even during times of serious challenges.
He is also survived by his children: Jackie Klag (husband John), Michael Doll (wife CeCe), Sheri Witte (husband Brian), Tom Doll (wife Julie), and Scott Zimmerman (wife Patty). Jack was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Amanda; Alex (Olivia); Joey (Inna); Natalie (Laura); Andrea (Seth); Laura (Cameron); Maria (Dominic); Johnny (Libby); Christina; and David (Alaina). He was further blessed with ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Pat Chitty and Shirley Wagner.
Though often described as a quiet, soft-spoken man of faith, those who knew Jack well will always remember his quick, wry, and ironic sense of humor. He was a man in constant motion, deeply appreciated for keeping his homes, cars, and family duties in impeccable order. An avid and skilled golfer, Jack also cherished winter vacations in Sarasota and treasured the massive network of friendships he and Fran cultivated together over a lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to: Love Akron and/or Akron Snow Angels.
Jack’s life was one of quiet strength, steadfast love, and enduring dedication—to his family, his work, and his community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
