

She was born on August 28, 1923 in Akron, Ohio to Anthony and Athena (Koukouvetikis) Alogdelis.
Penny was very active in her church, Annunciation Greek Orthodox. She was a member of and late president of the Philoptochas Society, starting a spring bake sale and the gyro luncheon.
She was an incredibly talented seamstress, baker, and cook. She also loved to entertain.
In 2017, she moved to Brookdale Montrose as an independent resident. She brought in a number of her Greek friends and made dozens of new lasting friends.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, Thomas D. Van Doros, grandson, Matthew Kost, granddaughter, Jocelyn Kost, son-in-law, Robert Turgon, as well as 4 sisters and one brother.
She will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Christine (Sergio) Amitrano, Priscilla Turgon, and Pam Angheld, 8 grandchildren: Jessica (James) Turgon Babalitis, Sarah (Colin) Turgon Hughes, Rachel (Chase) Natoli, Katie (Jason) Casenhiser, Nicole (Matthew) Ehrie, and Christopher Amitrano, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Brookdale for their kindness, care, and lasting friendship of their mother. They would also like to thank Suncrest Hospice for their very personal, kind care and friendship.
A viewing will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Services to follow at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 South Union Street, Akron, Ohio.
