Daughter to the late Virgil and Alberta Smith, she was born on September 15, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Coventry High School. She would go on to serve in the United States Army from 1950-53. Afterward, she lived most of her life as a proud Akron resident and devoted family matriarch.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to countless others. She was also a diehard Cleveland sports fan and a lover and collector of teddy bears.
Preceded in death by siblings Joan Shafer, Robert Smith, Karen Domin, and Patricia Morrison, Shirley is immediately survived by daughter Vicki Wallis, granddaughter Shirley Ann (Omar Riley), and three great-grandchildren, Shaniya, Aniyla, and Shanice.
