Anna "Ruthie" Ruth Armstrong

She was born on March 1, 1955, in Albion, MI to Anna Banks and William Ridley Sr. Ruthie met Elijah Armstrong Sr. in 1969 and married on August 25, 1973.

Ruthie graduated from Albion High School in 1973. After high school she worked at Albion Public Schools as a Paraprofessional and in food service. She retired in 1994. Ruthie loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Saturday mornings were spent at her favorite place Walmart with her husband, Elijah.

Ruthie was a member of Lewis Chapel AME Church. She loved listening to gospel music and was known for her beautiful smile. And we cannot forget always speaking her mind. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching women's basketball, especially her favorite team University of Connecticut (UCONN).

She leaves to cherish her husband of 52 years Elijah Armstrong Sr., Daughters; Andrea Armstrong, Ayana (Mario) Lawler Son; Elijah Armstrong Jr. Bonus daughter/niece; Aisha (LaPree) Gamble. 7 grandchildren; Terrace (Kei), Helen, Taryn, Jontaj II (Katie), Tamya, Tanija,and Jaytion. 8 bonus grandchildren; Akaiia, Ashytn, Martoneo, DeMario, Julia, Markaylah, Thailan, and Lil Eddie. 13 great-grandchildren; Zavire, Taylyn, Alexandria, De’Martae, Jr., Gabrielle, Amira, Dream, Aviannah, Asir, Shiloh, Kyann, Bailey and Asai. Siblings; Kathryn Wheeler, William Ridley, Jr., Melnee Ridley, Michael (Erika) Ridley, Morgan Stewart, Vonzell Jimoh, Marcus Robinson, Krissa Ridley and Brianna Ridley. 1 uncle- Lonnie Banks Jr. Stepmother; Gloria Ridley, Sister in laws; Edwina Jordan and Bettie (Lawrence) Edmonds, brother-in-law; Robert Armstrong. Godchildren; Jana Reeves, Janea Wade, Jaquita Mohead, Eric Hunter, Amy Stamper, Johnathan Jones and Ra’Kai Jones. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special friends; Bonnie Anglin, Brenda Banks, Patricia Shellman, Nettie Wilson and Janice White.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Anna Banks Ridley Robinson and William Ridley Sr. Brothers; Gregory, Christopher and Anthony Sister; Jacqueline.

Family Hour will be held at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace St, Albion, Michigan 49224, on April 27, 2026, at 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm.
