Anna "Ona Joy" Joy Artis

Joy attended Albion Public Schools graduating in 1962. In 1963 she began to pursue a career of Nursing as a License Practical Nurse (LPN) continuing on to be a Registered Nurse (RN). Anna Joy was employed at Albion Manor and Calhoun County Medical Facility totaling over a span of 40 years. Due to her love for assisting the elderly in 1995 she also obtained certification in Gerontology. Joy also worked as a traveling nurse providing care to infants and elderly within their homes. After retirement Joy would care for her fellow residents, giving care to others was truly her specialty.

Anna Joy enjoyed vacationing in Idlewild MI, where she would fish and spend time at the family cabin. She also had a real love for plants she certainly had a green thumb.

Anna Joy was a member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ where she was also a member of the traveling choir named the Goodwill Singers. Joy loved to sing and praise the Lord.

Anna Joy was united in Holy Matrimony to Fred Lee Artis and they had 3 children. Ms. Fredeane Artis (Holt MI) Michele Lee Artis (Battle Creek MI) and Aaron David Artis (Kalamazoo, MI) 3 Grandchildren Terence D. Wilson (Lansing, MI), Shyanne S. Conerly (Lansing, MI) and Jarod Sadger (Madison Heights, Detroit) 1 Great Grandchild Tyree D. Wilson (Lansing, MI) and a host of loving nieces and nephews

Anna Joy also leaves to cherish her brother David Smith (Angela Smith) who shared an unwavering deep unconditional affection that they built over a lifetime of shared laughs and unique experiences that only they would understand. Their love will always remain until they see each other again.

"You may be gone from my sight, but you will never be gone from my heart." It's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Not a day will go by when you're not loved and missed. My mothers infectious smile and warm touch will live with me forever.

Services to celebrate Anna Joy's Homegoing will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 with family hour at 11am until the time of service at 12pm at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace St., Albion, MI. She will then be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Albion, MI.
