Celebration of Life For Carrie V Hollins Cheese Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend
The Wind Beneath Our Wings
Carrie V. Hollins Cheese peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Magnum Health Care and Rehab Center of Albion, Michigan. Carrie was born May 9, 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Greg and Matilda Hollins. Carrie moved to Albion to be in the care of her daughter Eddie Williams in 2009.
Following the completion of her secondary training, she engaged in an array of vocational programs including working as a nursing assistant and an Information Clerk for the Continental Bus Company in Los Angeles, CA. She ended her employment career as a Lead Instructor in the Benton Head Start Program where she was named "Teacher of The Year."
Carrie married Columbus Cheese who preceded her in death. She has joined in eternity, her parents; brothers Edward Lee, Warren G, and James Hollins; sister, Daisie Bell Williams, and son-in-law, Gerald Williams.
If there was a word that describes Carrie, it would be "nurturer". Her nurturing spirit reached far beyond her family and friends. She exhibited care and concern for others on the job, in her church, and in the community. She had a unique ability to bring love, understanding, and support in helping others with life challenges. For those who knew her, she was a sweet, kind, caring person. Also, she was an avid reader and a whiz at answering "Wheel of Fortune" questions. Our lives will forever be impacted by her nurturance, wisdom, and natural quest for knowledge.
Loving memories of Carrie will remain in the hearts of her family and friends for many years to come. Remembrances will be cherished by her daughters, Eddie Ruth Williams, Albion, Michigan and Sylvia (Melvin) Gillard, LaPuente, California; son, Alfonso (Cathy) Hollins, Grand Prairie, Texas; sister, Gracie (Willie) Johnson, Benton, Louisiana; grandchildren: Alycia Williams- Marshall, Albion, Michigan, Tara (Alandres) Thompson, Phoenix, Arizona, Melvin Gilliard, III and Carolyn Gilliard, LaPuente, California, Adonai Hollins, Grand Paraire, Texas; Great-Grandchildren: Twins Alaya and Jamine; Lavell Marshall; twins Alandre and Alexus; Taylor; and twins Daizean and Daizjanai.
