Evelyn Delores Gamble

Evelyn Delores Gamble, age 95 of Albion, Michigan entered into eternal rest at her home on Saturday, October 24, 2015 under the loving care of her family. She was born August 24, 1920 in Covington County, Alabama to the late Abner Louis and Lottie (Brown) Jordan.

She was married John Gamble, Sr. and he preceded her in death. Out of this union 5 children were born.

Evelyn was a faithful member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Superintendent Elder Robert L. Brown and later under Pastor Stephen C. Williams. Evelyn loved the Lord and was a praying woman. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 119. She spent her working years at Corning Glass.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Dolores Dudley of Saginaw; Ethel (Robert) Holt, and John Gamble Jr., both of Albion; James (LaTonya) Gamble, of Jackson, and Larry (Christine) Gamble of Albion; 2 Sister-In-Laws: Diane Gamble of Kalamazoo, and Dorothy Gamble of Albion; 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; 1 grand-daughter, Judith Elaine Dodds; her siblings: Weaver, Laymon, Daymon, Mary Sykes, Mildred Howard, Lannie Sims, Rosie Lee, Jessie L. Harris, Susie and Anna Robbins.

Evelyn’s family will celebrate her life with a Home Going service on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion, MI with family hour beginning at 11:00 AM followed by service at 12:00 PM NOON with Pastor Stephen C. Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
