

He attended school in Olivet, MI. He met the love of his life and future wife, Velda Sharpsteen at a barn dance. They were married July 4th, 1957. He worked at several carton factories during the years and retired in 1998 from Fields Container in Battle Creek, MI.
Fred was a thoughtful, kind and hardworking man who loved to spend time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He liked to travel up north to White Fish Point in the UP, vacation in Holmes County, Ohio, and Shipshewana, Indiana. He enjoyed to garden and took great pride in maintain his yard and gardens. He loved horses and enjoyed going to horse shows with his son who showed horses in 4-H.
Fred is survived by his wife Velda, son Fred Jr., granddaughter Jennifer Dye, grandson Brian Dadow, great-granddaughter Riley Dye and great-grandson Logan Dye, brother John (Sue), and sister Wauneta. Also, survived by special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Rodney Winchell and nieces Sandy Winchell and Amy Winchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bev, brothers Doug, Dale and Garry.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion, MI. Visitation will be at 11:00am on Saturday September 17th, 2022 with memorial service following at 12:00pm.
