Hazel S. Lewis

Hazel Sigsworth Lewis, age 99 of Albion passed away September 27, 2017 at her home, under the watchful care of her caregivers. She was born November 10, 1917 to George Walker and Mary Jane Hanna- Sigsworth in Houghton, MI, she was one of four children. Her parents and all of her siblings, brother Addison George Sigsworth and sisters Maude Bell-Meyers and Gwendolyn Mae Sigsworth-Hatch preceded her in death.

Hazel moved to New York at the age of 17, and attended Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse. She met and married the love of her life Dr. Abraham Sidney Lewis and his two children, Joan and Martin Lewis. All are deceased.

Hazel had a successful career as a nurse. She worked in New York as a nurse with her husband, until his death. She then worked as nurse for AT & T in Atlanta, GA, finishing her career in Cleveland, OH so she could be closer to her mother who resided in Albion, MI. She eventually moved to Albion to serve as a caregiver for her mother, her sister, Maude and brother, Addison, until they passed away.

Hazel is survived by several nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren.

According to her wishes, cremation and interment in Riverside Cemetery has taken place.
